Prevention Decision Support System

IT Project Manager – Lead Developer     1999 — 2005

(also known as PreventionDSS or Prevention Platform). Lead the development team and contributed information system and interface design, and application programming on this online decision support tool to assist state and other prevention planners and successfully brought the project through Certification and Accreditation (C&A). Developed specifications for the technology stacks for the servers and workstations used for hosting and developing the application. Provided configuration management of the systems; updates, upgrades, patches, etc. “The DSS” is built around SAMHSA’s Strategic Prevention Framework (SPF), a 5-step logic model that includes needs assessment, capacity development, strategic planning, program implementation, and outcome evaluation. The Prevention Platform enables users to create individual accounts and save their work in each of the five steps. The system scored consistently high on OMB 300 evaluations as a major information resource within the Department of Health and Human Services. In support of this project, contributed to the design and development of “TeamDSS.” TeamDSS was an online communication and project management application which became the basis for the Collaborative Project Management system (CPM) in use today.
